Everyday is an adventure and a new opportunity to reinvent myself. My tendency to overthink is reeled in through the process of creation. Through art I have a passage back to reality; a bridge between the real world and the colorful visions in my head.

The role of the artist is exactly the same as the role of the lover. If I love you, I have to make you conscious of the things you don’t see.
— James Baldwin

Artist’s who’s works I enjoy and inspire me…

Rene Magritte - Beauty in the nonsensical. I love Surrealist art. It provokes the mind to think of the creators intentions, inspiration and motivation, as well as your own experience and realizations.

Pablo Picasso - one of the first painters I was ever exposed to. It was in elementary school history class while flipping the pages of our textbook that I came across the bald man with the gaunt face surrounded by abstract female figure paintings in the background. As my classmates ridiculed the weirdness of the shapes in his paintings, I was fascinated by his willingness to present beautiful things unapologetically in the way he wants.

Edvard Munch - there is so much raw emotion, longing and darkness in his paintings; it always makes me curious about the OUTCOME. Whenever we experience a tribulation, in that moment we’re consumed but once we overcome the hurdle we reach a new understanding, we improve, we become better, we adapt…we realize we had the will in us all along. His paintings remind me that all suffering is temporary.

Edward Hopper - his paintings and prints bring me immense joy and I really can not say why. Nighthawks speaks volumes to me. How we can all be in one place at the same time but be on very different journeys.

Egon Schiele - expressionist painter showing his subjects in cynical and stoic states. I can relate to his representation of people more than any other artist I’ve come across. There’s also the erotic aspect which I believe is the underlying motivation and source of happiness, unapologetically.
